Wednesday was a pretty rough day, not gonna lie. Ed Sheeran performed at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and I was so close, and yet so far from buying tickets. I asked my mom midday if I could go to the concert. To my surprise, she accepted as long as I found a good priced ticket. My dad searched long and hard for a low priced ticket and eventually found a low priced one. Long story short, the ticket deal fell through and I was without a ticket. Of course, I was completely upset, but I somehow got through the night by fooling around on the guitar and having lots and lots of ice cream (lactaid-free, of course).
Anyways, I though I’d explain a little bit about why I am hopelessly in love with Ed Sheeran.
First of all, he is extremely talented in many ways: song writing, guitar playing, and singing. His lyrics are genius and he often sings about my exact thoughts and insecurities. How he knows women and their minds so well, I don not know, but it has caused him to get the nickname “Ginger Jesus”.
Aside from his music, Ed is a great person. Now I’ve never met him, but there’s just something about him: the way he acts, his honesty, his humbleness, his casualness, just his way about it, is just perfect. For example, you rarely see Ed wearing $300 coats or $1000 shoes. He pretty much lives in tee shirts and jeans. He was even named ‘worst dressed celebrity’, but his reaction was what I loved. He didn’t say he was going to work on his style or try harder to dress well, he answered with humor.
Quite possibly my favorite thing about him though is that he doesn’t seem to care about the fact that he’s famous. For example, at Jingle Ball, quite possibly the largest and most sought after concert for teens and young adults in the tri-state area, he exited with the people. He left through the same exit as the people who watched him perform a mere hour before hand, and he exited with the masses of people. No security, no nothing. Just him. And again, yesterday, instead of taking a private helicopter to the venue or taking a stretch limo or a big van with tinted glass, he took the subway. Yes, the New York City subway to his venue. He hopped on the subway during rush hour and took the train down to his stop.
Anyways, I hope you all take the time to buy Ed’s albums and listen to his amazing songs.
