As many of you know, I went to the Ed Sheeran concert at Terminal 5 on Friday. Although I got there a bit late and missed the first opening act, I came just in time to see Passenger, Mike Rosenberg, a Brighton born singer/songwriter. Firstly, he was absolutely adorable. He explained how his normal gigs were at little bars and pubs with totals of 4 listeners, all but one of which were people who he knew, and that performing to a few hundred people made him pretty nervous. He, just like Ed did, had great control over the crowd and asked us for a few of his songs to be quiet and just to listen to the song. And again like Ed did, he taught us the chorus to his song “Holes” and “I Hate” and he asked us to sing along with him. His songs and lyrics have a wide range of themes from lyrical and personal to funny and pretty much just speaking his mind. After finishing his act he came back on with Ed and the first opening act and they did a trio of one of Passenger’s songs, “My Heart’s On Fire”. After he finished the show, he stayed after by the merch stand and said if you want to come meet me, come talk to me! He was selling some of his CDs and meeting the fans. I tried my best to get to him at the end but Terminal 5 turned into a mob after Ed finished, and I had no chance.
While Passenger continues to be unsigned, he has released a few albums on itunes all over the world. I bought two of them; his most recent one, All the Little Lights and an older one, Flight of the Crow. My favorite songs at the moment are “Holes”, “Let Her Go”, “Circles (acoustic)”, “The Wrong Direction”, “Keep On Walking”, and “Life’s For The Living”.
Even though I only saw him 2 days ago, I am already a huge fan. I hope he comes back to the US soon!
Peace n Blessings
